How failures affect published data
Isolation
A broken source cannot erase healthy evidence. Structured official connectors commit as one validated transaction; other Guardian checks isolate failures while preserving last-known-good rows.
Currency boundary
Scaleway EUR prices enter USD comparisons only through a fresh official ECB reference rate. We preserve the EUR amount, rate, reference date and calculation evidence; the conversion is indicative, not a transaction or invoice rate. If that evidence is unavailable or stale, the EUR rows remain auditable but are excluded. ECB reference data is available free of charge.
Quarantine
Anomalous, unparseable or repeatedly failing sources are retained for diagnosis and excluded from claims of freshness.
Rights suspension
When provider terms block automation, Guardian stops before the request, records a policy state with zero technical failures and excludes retained rows from current decisions.
Evidence
Every comparable offer keeps its source URL, observation time, normalization method and confidence score.
